A balance pad is a block of soft foam you stand, kneel or sit on to make an ordinary exercise less stable. This one is 40cm long, 33cm wide and 5cm high, in black or blue. People use it for balance drills, core work, coordination practice and ankle and knee rehab exercises.
Why foam
The foam gives under your feet, so the small muscles in your feet, ankles and lower legs keep working to hold you steady. A squat or a single-leg stand that feels easy on the floor takes more control on the pad. Coaches and physios use balance pads for exactly that in warm-ups and rehab sessions.
How people use it
- Single-leg stands, first with eyes open, then closed
- Squats, split squats and step-ups onto the pad
- Kneeling on it for core and shoulder work
- Ankle and knee rehab exercises set by a physio

Start barefoot or in flat shoes on a clear patch of floor, near a wall or bench you can grab if you need it.
Compared with other balance gear
A pad has a flat, even surface, so it is the gentlest way to start. The inflatable balance cushion is rounder and wobbles more, and boards tip on a single axis or in every direction. You can see all of them in Balance Boards and Cushions.
