Blood Pressure Monitors

Three devices for taking blood pressure and pulse readings at home, in the gym or at a sports club. The Omron HEM-7144T1 automatic blood pressure monitor ($179) inflates the cuff and takes the reading itself. The aneroid sphygmomanometer with stethoscope ($59) is the manual option: you pump the cuff and listen through the stethoscope, which takes some practice.

The fingertip heart rate monitor with pulse oximeter ($39) clips onto a finger and shows your pulse rate and oxygen saturation reading. Trainers use one to check heart rate between efforts.

Cuff sizes, memory and power details are on each product page. These are consumer devices, so talk to your doctor about what your readings mean. More assessment tools are in fitness testing equipment.
