A wobble board is a round board that tips in every direction when you stand on it, so you have to keep working to hold the edges off the floor. This one from Liveup Sport is commercial grade plywood, 40cm across. It gets used in sport training, in rehab programmes and at home, by people who want a simple piece of balance kit that stores flat against a wall.

Small, constant corrections from your ankles, knees and hips keep the board level. That is what makes a wobble board useful for warm-ups, balance sessions and a few minutes of practice at home.
Three drills to start with
- Two-foot stand: feet about shoulder width apart, knees soft, and try to hold the board level for 30 seconds.
- Rocking: tip the board slowly front to back, then side to side, touching the edge down each time.
- Hands on: kneel, put your hands on the board in a push up position and hold, or try a few slow push ups.
Start next to a wall or bench you can grab, and move on to single-leg stands once two feet feel steady. Give yourself clear floor space around the board.
