These rotating push up bars have handles that turn as you lower and press. The handles let your wrists rotate the way they do when you throw a punch or press a dumbbell, and lifting your hands off the floor lets you go a little deeper at the bottom of each rep.
They’re sold as singles: one bar per item. For standard push ups you’ll want one in each hand, so add two to your cart if you’re starting from scratch.
Exercises
- Standard push ups, hands under your shoulders
- Wide and narrow grip push ups
- Decline push ups with your feet on a bench or box
- Push up holds at the bottom position, for time
A simple progression
Start from your knees until you can do several clean reps with a slow lowering. Move to full push ups next, and keep the lowering slow. Once those feel easy, add a pause at the bottom, then try raising your feet on a bench. Let the handles turn freely rather than forcing them into a set angle.
Setting them up
Place the bars about shoulder width apart on a flat, stable floor. Grip the handle through the middle and keep your wrist stacked over it as you press.
